FAQ

How long is the contract for? What is the process if I want to exit the contract early?

Our standard contract term is 12 months. If you wish to exit early, we require a 30-day written notice.

Is there a trial period or probationary phase?

Yes. New talent begins in a 90-day development or evaluation phase. During this time, we assess compatibility, consistency, and market fit. At the end of the phase, we mutually determine if full representation is the best fit. The only time a talent goes directly to Mainboard is if they have the proper experience and portfolio.

What exactly does exclusivity mean here? Is it just modeling or all talent work?

Exclusivity applies to the category you are signed under, such as modeling, acting, or influencing. If you’re signed as a model, you’re exclusive to us for modeling work only. Any additional work (like UGC, influencing, or acting) will be discussed on a case-by-case basis and added via amendment if necessary.

Can I work with other agencies or freelance on the side if I inform you?

We allow freelance work with prior communication, especially for categories outside your primary representation. For example, if you’re signed as a model, you can communicate about doing freelance as a UGC creator or work regionally with non-competing agencies.

What is your commission rate on paid jobs?

We retain a 15% commission on agency-booked jobs. For union-related or larger commercial jobs, standard SAG-AFTRA or client-side agreements may apply.

Do you take commission on gifted/in-kind deals or UGC work?

We do not take commission on gifted deals or trade collaborations.

Are there any upfront fees or ongoing costs I’ll be responsible for?

There are no upfront agency fees to join. However, you may be responsible for optional services such as comp cards, professional shoots, training, or brand coaching, especially if recommended to strengthen your portfolio.

What kind of opportunities/brands do you see me working with?

That depends on your look and skill set, but we align our talent with editorial shoots, e-commerce, luxury brands, beauty campaigns, commercials, and social media brand partnerships. We tailor opportunities to fit your unique brand and target market.

How often are models in my category booking work through your agency?

Booking frequency depends on market demand, availability, and model readiness. We maintain active placement across commercial, fashion, and lifestyle sectors, with steady booking opportunities for models who remain responsive and active.

Can you share examples of recent bookings for someone with my look/style?

Absolutely! We’d be happy to share recent bookings and brand partnerships that align with your profile during your onboarding or development review session, respecting NDAs and client privacy when needed.

How often will I have access to photographers, stylists, or strategists? Is that included or billed separately?

We host monthly Power Shoots and content days which include access to photographers, stylists, and creative direction.

Who handles social media strategy? Is it hands-on help or just guidance?

We offer both! Influencers and content creators receive hands-on support through coaching calls, campaign planning, and content calendars. Models receive strategic guidance on how to build a strong digital presence aligned with their category.

Are talent coaching sessions included, or do they cost extra?

Talent coaching is included in our ongoing development program and available monthly or bi-monthly depending on your division. Additional one-on-one brand strategy sessions may be available for a fee that isn’t associated with the agency.

How often are the workshops held, and are they required?

Workshops are hosted once per month, covering topics like posing, branding, audition technique, and content strategy. While not mandatory, attendance is highly encouraged for continued growth and visibility.

How will communication work between me and the agency? Is “on-call concierge” a dedicated person or a general inbox?

You’ll have access to our on-call concierge line via text, call, or email, handled by a dedicated member of our team. For more in-depth support, we also schedule check-ins and monthly talent updates.

Will I be notified about every opportunity I’m submitted for?

You’ll be notified upon request or when a callback, audition, or job is confirmed. Due to volume, not every submission will be reported, but we maintain transparency for anything that progresses to the next round.

Will you cover portfolio shoots or do I have to pay for those?

Portfolio shoots are not automatically covered, but we often provide heavily discounted sessions through our preferred photographers during agency shoot days. However, you do receive 2 free test shoots per month from our in-house photographer.

Do you have preferred vendors or in-house talent for this?

Yes, we work with a curated network of photographers, stylists, makeup artists, and editors who understand agency-standard deliverables and aesthetics. Many are part of our internal team or partner network.

How do you ensure fair usage rights? Will I get copies of contracts to review before confirming jobs?

Absolutely. All talent receive copies of contracts prior to confirming any job, and we ensure usage rights, exclusivity terms, and deliverables are clear and fair. We advocate on your behalf and provide clarity on licensing or renewals.

What’s your payment timeline? (e.g. Net 30/60/90)

We typically operate on a Net 30–45 payment cycle, depending on the client. We release payments to talent within 5 business days of receiving funds from the client.

Do I need to pay anything upfront to join?

No. There is no fee to join Opulent Talent Management. We believe in earning through placement and performance—not charging talent to be seen.
